The Iraqi Supreme Court today rejected a complaint against the conditions of polygamy in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The Iraqi Supreme Court today rejected a complaint filed by lawyers Aso Hashim, Mohsin Hartali and Sardar Shekhani against the Kurdistan Regional parliament speaker.
Mohsin Hartali, a lawyer and one of the plaintiffs, told KNN that the court apparently rejected the complaint, which is related to Article 1 of the 15th Amendment to the Personal Status Law.
He added that the rejection was because none of the complainants were harmed by the law, adding that they are currently trying to find someone who has been harmed by the law so that they can file the complaint in his name.
He added that one of the other reasons for the rejection was not allowed to go to court in the Federal Court during the hearing of the complaint, he said: In their complaint they had asked the court to lift the restrictions on polygamy.
