On Saturday, December 28, a delegation from the Equality and Peoples' Democracy Party, which included party deputies Perwin Buldan and Sirri Sureyya Onder, met with leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prison.
Today, the delegation made a brief statement on the content of the meeting, stating:
"We had an extensive meeting with Mr. Abdullah Ocalan on December 28, 2024 in Imrali.
His health is good, and his morale is high.
His assessments on finding a lasting solution to the Kurdish issue were positive.
During the meeting, the latest developments in the Middle East and Turkey were discussed, and Mr. Abdullah Ocalan presented positive proposals to face the imposed future scenarios.
The general framework of his ideas and approaches were as follows:
The re-establishment of the bonds of brotherhood between Kurds and Turks has acquired a historical responsibility and a decisive importance and urgency for all peoples.
For the success of the process, it is necessary and absolutely necessary for all political parties in Turkey to take the initiative and act constructively, and to make a positive contribution without entering into narrow and temporary calculations. One of the most important reasons for this contribution is undoubtedly the Parliament of the Nation of Turkey (TBMM).
The developments and events in Gaza and Syria have shown that solving this problem, which is being tried by external imposition, has become like a "gangrene" (destruction, death), and has reached a situation that cannot be postponed. With this seriousness, and in order for fair and balanced action to succeed, the contributions and proposals of the opposition are also important.
I also have the strength and determination to make an important positive contribution to the new model and idea that Mr. Bahceli and Mr. Erdogan are working on.
The delegation will share his idea with the State, responsible office and political parties. In this context, I stand ready to take the necessary positive steps and advocacy.
All these efforts will raise the country to the level it deserves and at the same time, it will be a very important direction for democratic transition.
This is a time of peace, democracy and brotherhood for Turkey and the region."
