The United Nations and the Government launched the second phase of the UN Plan, titled “New Beginnings,” a comprehensive framework aimed at facilitating the safe, voluntary and dignified return, rehabilitation and reintegration of Iraqi citizens from Al-Hol and Al-Roj camps in northeastern Syria.

A statement by the United Nations Mission in Iraq, received by the Iraqi Agency (INA), stated that "National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji "underscored the importance of accelerating the return process and closing Al-Hol camp," calling on "international partners to continue supporting Iraq in this effort."

In turn, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Mohammed Al-Hassan, said: "Iraq's leadership in facilitating the return of its citizens from northeastern Syria constitutes a positive global precedent, and it has been recognized at the highest levels within the United Nations, including by the Secretary-General himself."

He added: "It is time to close this file and turn the page on ISIS threats. It is a challenging project, and its solution, according to international standards, and in a manner that rises to the level of this country that has drawn the civilization of humanity, is evidence of Iraq's recovery."
