The commander of the US forces in Iraq, General Joel Foyle, confirmed in an interview with the American magazine Task & Purpose, which specializes in military affairs, that the US forces still face many dangers in the Middle East region.
Quoted Foyle as saying, “The three soldiers who fell in Tower 22 were part of a strategy to kill and wound Americans until the United States decided to withdraw its forces from the Middle East.”
He added, “We never imagined that the resistance factions could launch an attack in another country, but we have seen it with our own eyes,” noting that “the Burj 22 area on the Iraqi-Jordanian-Syrian border was not targeted before the start of the war launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip.”
He explained that “the resistance factions began targeting the American forces in Iraq and Syria since the start of the war,” noting that “the military coalition led by the United States was focusing more on protecting the American bases in Iraq and Kuwait.”
Foyle stated, “One of the main lessons learned from the Tower 22 attack is that smaller military installations of the United States and partner countries need more defenses against one-way drones. He did not specify the types of systems now being used to stop further drone attacks.”
He continued, “Since the attack, we began digging the ground and pouring more concrete, but we still face many dangers in the region,” noting that “all American and coalition forces deployed in the Middle East as part of Operation Inherent Resolve are still at risk.”
