The Gorran Movement calls the 10th anniversary of the massacre of the Yazidi Kurds and the occupation of Sinjar a reminder of another deep historical sorrow of the Kurdish people and stresses that the Yazidis need service and a decent life, not annual commemoration.
In the statement, the Gorran Movement called on both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government not to delay the compensation of the Yazidis and the normalization of the situation in Sinjar and the region.
Text of the statement of the Gorran Movement:
Today, 10 years have passed since the massacre of the Yazidi Kurds and the occupation of Sinjar and its surroundings by the terrorist organization ISIL.
The commemoration of this huge crime is a reminder of another deep historical sorrow of our nation, which resulted in the massacre of about 5,000 Yazidi citizens and more than that number were kidnapped and more than 2,800 citizens are still missing.
Despite the genocide, destruction, displacement and uneven situation faced by the Yazidis, unfortunately, after 10 years, reconstruction has not reached these areas and the situation has not returned to normal ; It has also threatened the security situation in the region.
On this tragic occasion, the Gorran Movement remains with the suffering of the Yazidi brothers and sisters. The Yazidis need services and a decent life, not an annual commemoration of the collapsed houses.
