Today marks the ninth anniversary of the death of Kurdo Qasim, a veteran Peshmerga and one of the founders of the Gorran Movement.
Kurdo Qasim was born in 1954 in Baghdad to a Kurdish-loving family. He participated in the Peshmerga struggle and worked in the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) since its establishment. In 1970, he joined the Kurdistan Marxist-Leninist Committee and was a member of the founding committee of the Red Eagle Organization.
He was a political prisoner in Baghdad from 1977 to 1979. He joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces in 1980 and became a prominent name and an example of bravery and heroism Garmian.
Kurdo Qasim continued his struggle after the 1991 Kurdistan Uprising and held several political, organizational and military positions. He was a member of the leadership of PUK until 2009, and later played a major role in the formation of the Gorran Movement. He was one of the founding members of the movement and his last position in the Gorran Movement was a member of the National Council.
He was also a veteran Peshmerga leader with a history and a pure and sovereign struggle. He was also one of the founders of the Gorran Movement, from organizational work to Peshmerga struggle. He has always been a supporter and friend of young critics. Kurdo Qasim passed away on December 21, 2015 at the age of 61 in Sulaimani Emergency Hospital.
