The Iraqi delegation in Washington: Government measures aim to reform the banking system

The Iraqi delegation headed by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, who is currently in Washington, D.C., said on Friday that the government measures aim to reform the banking system.

 

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said in a statement that "Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and his accompanying delegation met with US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Elizabeth and senior ministry staff concerned with Iraq and the Middle East," pointing out that "during the meeting they discussed issues of common interest and bilateral cooperation between the two countries."

According to the statement, the Iraqi delegation pointed out that "the measures of the government and the Central Bank in developing and reforming monetary policy, and the government's priority in promoting investment and trade, diversifying energy sources and facing the current challenges at the monetary and banking levels, and what these measures reflect in reforming the banking system by combating corruption and money laundering, and the importance of continuing technical meetings between specialists in this aspect."
