Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani, made his first post in Kurdish on the X platform, emphasizing unity and cooperation to rebuild Syria.
“The Kurds in Syria add beauty and light to the diversity of the Syrian people,” Al-Sheibani wrote on his official account.
Appointed as foreign minister in the transitional Syrian government on December 21, 2024, Al-Shaibani acknowledged past injustices faced by the Kurdish community under the Assad regime.
“The Kurdish community in Syria has suffered injustice at the hands of the Assad regime,” he stated, adding, “We will work together to build a country where everyone feels equality and justice.”
His remarks come amid a lack of formal relations between the new authorities in Damascus and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, also known as Western Kurdistan.
Born in Al-Hasakah in 1987 and now residing in Damascus, Al-Shaibani previously managed relations for the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and served as director of political affairs in the Syrian Salvation Government, founded in 2017.
Al-Shaibani’s message marks a significant step in addressing the diversity and inclusion of all Syrian communities in the country’s rebuilding efforts.
