Mazlum Abdi: The Kurds want decentralized power in the new Syrian constitution

The SDF commander-in-chief said the U.S. administration has no plans to withdraw its forces from northern and eastern Syria, stressing that they want a decentralized authority in Syria.



In an interview with the BBC, Mazloum Abdi, commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said he called for the establishment of a decentralized authority and the recognition of Kurdish rights in Syria's new constitution.

 

 

He added that he had received clarification from the U.S. military that his country had no plans to withdraw its forces from northern and eastern Syria.

 


Abdi also pointed out that they have security cooperation with the new Damascus and that there should be no conflict، and that the new Damascus is under Turkish pressure to take steps against the areas under their control.
