Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has reached out to former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, currently imprisoned in Turkey, to express his gratitude and appreciation, according to Turkish media reports.

A Rare Gesture Amid Political Tensions
HaberTürk reported on Sunday, that Bahçeli personally called Demirtaş to thank him for his support in advancing the peace process between the Turkish government and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

This development follows a historic statement by PKK founder Abdullah Öcalan on Feb. 27, 2025, in which he urged the organization to disarm and dissolve itself.
